Fetch me my Rifle.

Goodness me.  Is there anything more lovely than Rifle Paper Co.?
How I would love to paint like Anna Bond and have my own stationery line selling cards and envelopes, invitations, paper and prints on my delightful and pretty website.  Sigh.  This is the reason I am trying to paint with Gouache again, something that I seem to have neither the talent nor the patience for.

In the meantime I shall continue to eat the up website.  Please join me. http://riflepaperco.com/

PS if you want to buy me some of this stuff then please go ahead, all gifts are most welcome!

Happy customer!

I received an email recently from a very happy customer and an old friend. Zara purchased 2 prints from me and wrote back, with photos of them framed, to say how glad she was.
Now isn't that lovely :)
Thanks Zara.

Ai Ai Ai

I made this as a sort of pre-cursor to a screen print.  Print didn't go so well, but painting is not too shabby!

Bunny times

I don't know why I am drawing rabbits, but I feel that I should just go with it.  I think my use of colour is improving. x

Jigsaw of my dreams.

On a  recent trip back home I found and old jigsaw that my grandmother gave me for one of my birthdays when I was little.  Even as a young thing I wanted to gobble up this picture.  I love it so much.  I remember losing that one piece of jigsaw.  Who knows where it is..maybe it's made it's way back to HK.
I don't know who illustrated it and it was too long ago to do detective work.  It was either bought in Hong Kong or Japan and that's all I know.
Enjoy xx

The Irish Dancer

I had this drawing lying around so I decided to colour her and make her presentable.
Enjoy xx
PS all my drawings are available as prints.  If you would like to purchase one or commission me then please email: hello@rhumbaba.co.uk

Some Autumnal characters

Whilst trying to pitch for a book I ended up creating these characters.
It's not right for what I'm doing but perhaps they could be useful in the future.
Either way, a good stride into colour.

Our Picture Post

In a bid to create more work my friend, Beth Carson, and I have set up a whole new blog for a drawing project!
In this we create a piece of art on a piece of card the same size as a trading card and post it to each other every Tuesday.  Come Wednesday we receive our post.  This is not a new phenomenon.  It has come from USA and is called ATC (Artists Trading Cards).  Much like those pannini sticker books you get... Collect them all!

So in order to document our work and show the world our ideas we have our blog:
http://ourpicturepost.blogspot.com/

So come and see it and see what we come up with each week. xx

Hiroshima 2010

The good people of the distinguished Hiroshima Animation Festival have sent me a surprise package in the post.  In it I received a certificate for having my film, Everybody, screened in the festival and a brochure of what went on there too.
I have only once been to the festival in 2008 and it was a blast, I am sad that I did not go again this year, but hopefully for the next one (in 2012) I will have another film made so that I can have the opportunity to attend again.
Thanks for the lovely post Hiroshima!

Pretend birds

Whilst in the Highlands last week, watching deer and stags, sheep and dolphins, walking in the rolling hills and stepping over streams I decided to get the watercolours out and have a play.
This is the outcome. Enjoy! x

BAA Kids DVD Vol. 1 and Vol. 2

Hello all!
Sorry for the radio silence, but things have been a bit crazy with me.
I am writing now to alert you to the LAUNCH of "Box of Delights" Volumes 1 & 2 a collection of short animated films for kids from the British Animation Awards.
More importantly, however, is that the cover illustration and design was by yours truly.
Hurrah!

So feast your eyes on this and if you would like it to look pretty on your shelf it can be purchased here.

A bunch of us were hired by Figtree Network to create "doodle" portraits for an HTC event in September 2010.

Although most of our efforts were given away to their dopplegangers I managed to salvage an actual doodle that was a group effort whilst we were waiting for instructions.

Artists include James Graham, Meghana Bisineer, and me!

I was in an elevator when this happened. A rather famous actress was chatting with her PA. (Please click the picture to see it bigger).

Joyeux Anniversaire!

This was a private commission to create a piece of artwork for a birthday gift. This one-off piece was carefully thought out, taking into consideration all aspects of the recipient and then delivered as a giclée print. To commission your own piece please contact me.

I am quite proud of it :)

Foxy!

Last Wednesday was my final printing class. This time we learned about lino prints. This is my second ever lino cut in my life. The last one I did was in 2nd year in school... oh about 15 years ago.
In keeping with my animal theme I printed a fox. He is sleeping on a rug, under the stars.
ENJOY!
