And on the third day we did Drypoint
This laborious task of Drypoint took us 3 hours (well we were learning). You get your bit of metal, scratch in your picture; File down the edges of your plate; pre-soak your paper; Ink your plate, and then wipe the ink off; Prepare your press and eventually print.
Scratching in your picture is a bit daunting. For one, you have to think of something, then you hope that it's good enough to bother going through the rest of the stages and then the scratching of the metal makes your teeth go funny (think fork on plate...yow!).
But it was worth it to see my little picture come out and to get to spin the printing wheel.

A very talented lady
Beth and I went to college together. I was always in awe of how beautifully she could draw, and she's the reason that I now enjoy working in ink.
When she left Ireland to go back to Chicago she left some things behind. Here is a little snippet of what she can do.

Hooked on printing!
Well, I have been attending a printing class at East London Printmakers off Mare Street.
The teacher there is Nick Morley, a very talented printer. The classes are loads of fun and we are learning a lot.
The first week we did stencil screen prints, the second week we worked from photos or drawings and created those photo-exposure screen prints. Last night we did dry point, which was lots of fun.
Looking forward to the next class where we get to play with acid!
Anyway, here is a piece that I did of my cat on the second week. It came out really well.
